Integrative Decision Making (IDM) is Holacracy's governance process for turning proposals into structural changes. It follows defined steps: present proposal, ask clarifying questions, give reactions, amend if needed, check for objections, and integrate valid objections into an improved version.
IDM works because it separates personal preferences from legitimate structural concerns. Objections must meet specific validity criteria, so the process filters out "I don't like it" while taking seriously "this would cause harm." The result is decisions that are safe enough to try, not perfect, but good enough to move forward.
Nestr supports the full IDM process within its governance meeting workflow. Proposals move through each step with facilitation support, objections are recorded and tested, and the resulting changes are applied directly to the circle structure. The complete decision trail is preserved in the governance playback.
